Latitude
Lines of latitude are the lines that run horizontally around the globe. Important lines of latitude include the equator, the tropic of cancer and the tropic of capricorn. The equator divides the globe into the northern and southern hemispheres. The lines of latitude are used to measure how far north or south something is from the equator.
